Abstrakt
Intragranular, micritic cement has been observed in microborings from deep-sea sedimentary particles (pteropod shells), depths 528 m to 871 m. It is particularly conspicuous in nondepositional environments such as the Blake Plateau. Such cementation may be concurrent and analogous to the formation of intergranular deep-sea cement. It can occur at such energy levels where particle-to-particle contacts do not persist for sufficient time to allow intergranular cementation.
