Abstrakt
The large gravel pit at Partsi on Hiiumaa Island, Estonia, exposes a long section opf obliquely laminated well rounded but poorly sorted sandy gravel, pebbles, and cobbles, continuing freshwater molluscs in its lower part and brackish-water molluscs in the upper part. Suggests that water level in the Ancylus Lake dropped 30 m before the following Litorina transgresion. About one-third of the lowering of the water level was probably caused by land uplift.
