Abstrakt

An assemblage of Late Cambrian lingulate brachiopods is described from xenoliths in volcanic rocks from diatrernes on the eastern White Sea coast (northern Russia). The new obolid species Westonia pinegensis is described, together with Rebrovia cf. chernetskae Popov & Khazanovitch and two other obolids unnamed at specific level. The obolids and the associated assemblage of acritarchs, including Elenia armillata and Izhoria angulata, are closely comparable with approximately coeval assemblages from the Bugino Formation of the Moscow Basin, and can be correlated with the Peltura Zone in Baltoscandia. This described assemblage documents the northern‐most extension of Upper Cambrian strata on the central part of the East European Plate.
