Abstrakt
Estonia has one of the biggest phosphorite deposits in Europe – Rakvere phosphorite deposit. Due to complicated geological and mining conditions, no-one has created a breaking method for phosphate ore.
Phosphate ore physical and mechanical properties determine the method for rock breaking. One of the most important properties is it’s abrasivity. To determine the abrasivity of phosphate rock, fieldworks were carried out where phosphate rock and oil shale were collected. The rock samples were tested for abrasivity using LCPC method and for strength point load test. Using data gathered from the tests an optimal rock breaking method was choosen for an underground mine in Rakvere phosphorite deposit Kabala exploration field.
