Eine ruhigwasser-taphozönose aus einem wenlock-geschiebe (untersilur)

Macro- und microfauna of a rare Wenlock erratic boulder are described. The dominant faunal element are the ostracodes. Two genera and five species are new. The phenomenon of the change of carapace morphology during ontogenesis, hitherto scarcely noticed in Silurian ostracodes, is demonstrated in a platycope species. The analysis of ecological data of the occurring organisms and functional morphological observations in ostracodes are the basis for an environmental interpretation. The habitat can be characterized as a moderately aerated quiet water environment. The local position on the shelf of the Baltoscandian pericontinental Sea is discussed.
