A Distinctive Chitinozoan from the Alpena Limestone (Middle Devonian) of Michigan

An occurrence of Chitinozoa from the Dock Street Clay Member of the Middle Devonian Alpena Limestone of Michigan is reported. The Chitinozoa fauna consists of only one species, a form with distinctive morphologic characteristics heretofore undescribed. The new genus Alpenachitina is proposed and the type species Alpenachitina eisenacki described. A selected bibliography lists the pertinent literature on Chitinozoa.
