Abstrakt
The upper Llandoverian Awantjish Formation, which occurs in Val Brillant no. 1 bore-hole (close to Lake Matapédia) Quebec, has yielded well-preserved acritarchs, chitinozoans, and spores. A new acritarch species, Arenomoricanium? matapediensis, is described.
The acritarch assemblages, which are characterized by the presence of Domasia and the absence of forms such as Neoevittia pachytheca and Deunffia, show a general resemblance to those described from the Ross Brook Formation of Nova Scotia and the Rose Hill and Tuscarora Formations of Pennsylvania. Furthermore, they are generally similar to those from the Silurian of Belgium.
