Abstrakt
he groenlandaspidids are a group of arthrodires with a wide world distribution during the Devonian. Remains of various species are found in Upper Devonian deposits on all continents except East Asia. The paper describes a new groenlandaspidid genus and species Albarutheniaspis bessonovae gen. et sp. nov. from the upper Famennian of Belarus. The species is represented by a solitary articulated specimen recovered from a borehole core, with elements of both the cranial and trunk armor. The species has many unique characters including dual pineal plates, with the posterior plate being considerably smaller than the anterior plate. The species represents one of the last known placoderms in the fossil record. A short discussion is included on placoderms that were purported to have survived into the Carboniferous.
