Comment on , ‘The trace-fossil record of the Late Paleozoic Ice Age’

Buatois et al. (2025) provide an important synthesis of the ichnological record of the Late Paleozoic Ice Age. This contribution highlights two ichnotaxonomic issues concerning the Aquidauana Formation (Itararé Group, Brazil): (1) Umfolozia longula is a junior synonym of U. riojana and should not be reported from the Aquidauana Formation, where no confirmed records exist; (2) records attributed to Warvichnium ulbrichi are better reassigned to Irichnus saltatorius, as W. ulbrichi is restricted to Pleistocene glacial deposits.
