Abstrakt
Peelerophon oehlerti (Bergeron 1889), the type species of Peelerophon Yochelson 1982 from southwestern France is recognised in the early Tremadocian of Argentina under the names Oxynodiscus (sic) keideli Kobayashi 1935, Bucania mudanensis Kobayashi 1937 and Bucania cyrtoglypha Harrington 1938. Its distribution is further extended to the Tremadocian of Tasmania, and early Arenigian of Western Australia, and Tarutao Island off the southern coast of Thailand. In both Argentina and Western Australia it is associated with Kayseraspis brackebuschi (Kayser 1898). This distribution pattern suggests that it was eurythermal but may not have been able to cross major oceanic barriers.
