Abstrakt

Culture studies of the plants currently referred to as Entocladia perforans, E. testarum and Phaeophila tenuis have confirmed the validity of characters used to separate these algae. Germination stages are considered particularly important, and have been studied in the scanning electron microscope (SEM). As the type species of Entocladia has been shown (Nielsen, 1979) to belong in the older genus Acrochaete, characterized by forming a special type of hairs, E. pe~forans and E. testarum are transferred to the genus Epicladia. The plant currently referred to as Pseudopringsheimiafizcicola has been compared with the type species of Pseudendoclonium grown under identical culture conditions, and found to agree with it in most characters. It is therefore transferred to Pseudendoclonium
