Abstract
The Ordovician sedimentary basin in Estonia is composed of alternating thin layers of argillaceous to a different degree carbonate rocks. The total thickness of Ordovician rocks is about 50-200 metres. Middle Ordovician rocks include the commercial seam of oil shale (kukersites), the early Ordovician layers include the commercial seam of shelly phosphorites.
