Abstract
The type species of Lissatrypa, L. atheroidea Twenhofel 1914, from Llandoverian rocks of Anticosti Island, Quebec, Canada was re-examined. It is shown for the first time to have an external surface covering of minute fibers or spinules, to possess a specialized pedicle collar, deltidial plates, disjunct jugal processes and crura terminating in irregular fibers. The species is found preserved in 'pockets' associated with Triplesia, Gotatrypa, Dicoelosia, and Eocoelia, with scattered remnants of trilobites, ostracods and graptolites in otherwise barren grey shades denoting a quiet water environment.
