Abstract

Silurian oncocerid cephalopods, collected by Gustaf Lindström’s and co-workers at the end of the 19th century on the island of Gotland are described. The material is from the Samsugns quarries and found within large thanatocoenoses in the Wenlock Slite Beds. The investigated material comprises two new genera, Patagiumoceras and Simonssonoceras, and five new species, Patagiumoceras urnulum, Patagiumoceras crebristriatum, Pentameroceras nondum, Pentameroceras tibia and Simonssonoceras triangulum. Comparative studies are made with other the Silurian brevicones, especially with material from the Czech Republic.
