Abstract
Chitinozoans are Paleozoic marine organic-walled microfossils thought to be egg-cases of unknown animals. Some authors have also interpreted them to be the tests of a protistan organism. The bottle-, flask-, or urn-shaped vesicles are important for Ordovician through Devonian biostratigraphy. They have also been utilized to indicate paleoenvironmental and paleoclimate change.
