Abstract

Biostratigraphic information captured in conglomerates is significant for interpreting the incomplete Cambrian sequences in Baltoscandia. Up to 0.5 m thick basal conglomerate of the Kallavere Formation on the Pakri Peninsula, NW Estonia, overlying the Lower Cambrian sandstones of the Tiskre Formation, yielded two Upper Cambrian acritarch assemblages suggesting that sandstone cobbles of Parabolina spinulosa or Leptoplastus age have been reworked to a conglomerate formed during the Acerocare time. These new data are discussed in the context of the distribution of Upper Cambrian rocks and conglomerates in Baltoscandia.
