Middle Ordovician Chitinozoans from Öland

The chitinozoans from twenty-five localities through the Viruan (Middle Ordovician) sequence and erratic boulders of late Caradocian to early Ashgillian age from Öland, southeast Sweden, have been investigated. Thirty-five species of the genera Angochitina, Conochitina, Cyathochitina, Desmochitina, Eisenackitina, Hercochitina, Rhabdochitina, and Tanuchitina are described. Cyathochitina reticulifera and Cyathochitina sebyensis are described as new species. The genus Hercochitina is reported for the first time from the Baltoscandian area. Local range zones of the chitinozoans in the Viruan of Öland are established.
