D.V. Obruchev is an outstanding paleontologist, paleoichthyologist, and founder of the Russian national paleoichthyological school. Obruchev's scientific life was spent within the walls of the Paleontological Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences, with which he was inextricably linked for more than forty years. The book is based on his letters, field notebooks, memoirs of contemporaries. The work includes numerous photographs from the archives of the Obruchev family and the PIN RAS.
