Devonian stromatoporoid historical collections in the Natural History

The Natural History Museum, London, holds a big collection of stromatoporoid sponge fossils, most of which have not been described since the 19th Century. This preprint is focussed on the Devonian material only, and collates all the available taxa and redescribes them in modern stromatoporoid taxonomy, together with the limited palaeobiological and palaeoecological information, plus their geographic context. The study therefore provides a resource to improve understanding of Devonian stromatoporoids.
