Abstract

A new bryozoan species, the encrusting sheet-like anascan cheilostome Wilbertopora? lintonensis, occurs sparingly on oyster shells (Crassostrea glabra) from mainland-beach and barrier-bar sandstones in the Maestrichtian Fox Hills Sandstone (Timber Lake and Colgate Members) in south-central North Dakota. Accompanied by more numerous linear borings attributed to the ctenostome Orbignyopora sp. indet., these specimens comprise the only bryozoans thus far documented from Fox Hills strata within the United States.
