Abstract

This chapter documents biogenic activities on Cretaceous oyster shells from the Karai Shale of the Karai Formation, exposed in the Ariyalur area. These shells exhibit significant information about paleoecology and the postmortal processes, suggesting that such taphonomic (bioerosion marks) studies could be a valuable tool for paleoecological studies.
