Abstract
Specimens of the teredo, Lyrodus sp. (probably Lyrodus takanoshimensis Roch), were found in sunken driftwood collected at low tide from the head of Ladysmith Harbour, British Columbia. The introduction of this exotic species to Ladysmith Harbour may have occurred during the time when oyster seed was packed in wooden boxes and shipped to the harbour for subsequent culture.
