Abstract

Estrellichnus jacaensis igen nov., isp. nov. is a large radial trace fossil preserved as hypichnial semireliefs. It occurs in Eocene flysch deposits (depositional lobe facies) of the Hecho Group, north of Jaca in northern Spain. It is interpreted as a subsurface burrow composed of a central shaft and radiating tubular tunnels, produced by an unknown tracemaker. Estrellichnus jacaensis is similar to some extent to Capodistria vettersi Vialov.
