Abstract

Reddish brown mudstones of the Triassic Passaic Formation, near Milford, New Jersey, have yielded the first evidence of the trace fossil Alcyonidiopsis from New Jersey, and the second non-marine occurrence. Associated trace fossils include Scoyenia and Helminthoidichnites. Associated sedimentary structures include tool marks and raindrop impressions. Passaic Formation sediments were deposited under shallow water lacustrine shoreline conditions subject to periodic subaerial exposure.
