Abstract

Three forms of ichnofossils collected from the Upper Devonian Chagrin Formation in northeastern Ohio form the basis for description of a new genus and species of trace fossil, Chagrinichnites brooksi. Although they are distinct from one another, they can be related to the same trace maker based on similarity of size and general morphology. Although no body fossils were collected in association with the traces, it is probable that the trace maker was an arthropod, possibly the eocaridacean crustacean Palaeopalaemon which occurs in the Chagrin Formation.
