Abstract

The systematical part comprises the revision of Lithophaga (Lithophaga) antillarum (ORBIGNY, 1842), sonsidering 15 specific taxa of recent and fossil boring bivalves. The biological part explains the observations made in the field, taken in ecological view. The notes are arranged according to the weighed parameters and deal with the situation in recent samplex, followed by the situation in fossil ones. In L. antillarum no change can be observed with regard to the characteristic feature of the shell-structure, used for diagnosis, since the Middle Liassic. At least since the Middle Miocene the species bores into dead parts of massive hexacorallians
