Abstract

Tubichnus angulatus Grimmberger, 2013, consists of numerous, actively filled tubes arranged in inclined sheets. The planes occupied by tubes branching nearly at right angles to each other. These trace fossils were first described and interpreted from glacial erratic boulders of early Cambrian age on Rügen Island (NE Germany) but can also be found on Öland Island (S Sweden). Tubichnus angulatus represents a unique spreiten burrow in glauconitic sandstone (Mobergella Sandstone) with microfossils and other trace fossils, and deposited in a shallow-marine environment.
